How does Yoga work?

Primary goal of yoga is to restore the mind and the body.

Yoga gently rejuvenates the body through various postures and controlled breathing. As you restore your body and your breath, your mind becomes free. Yoga works on the entire body by strengthening muscles and bones, correcting posture and improving breath and increasing energy. The yoga poses circulate fresh blood throughout the body, which is cleansing for our irregular lifestyles, unhealthy habits and poor posture. When you are physically well, your mind is calm and clear.

The primary goal of yoga is to put you in a more peaceful state both mentally and physically. As yoga restores your body and your mind, a sense of well-being returns.

Yoga is the gift that keeps on giving. No matter you feel before practicing yoga – tired, stressed, digestive problems, etc. you and your body will feel better, more energized and more relaxed after just a few minutes of yoga. Imagine what a regular practice could do?

WHAT IS AROMATHERAPY?

Using essential oils to heal is the essence of what's known as AROMATHERAPY.

The use of oils that have been extracted from plants, trees, and flowers is one of the oldest and most natural healing traditions. Frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood were widely used in ancient rituals for purification and healing. Other oils like lemon, peppermint, lavender and clove were highly valued as antiseptics long before the advent of synthetic medicine.

Highly concentrated, pure oils have shown significant anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial and hormone balancing effects. The oils have been shown to have a profound effect on the central nervous system, helping to reduce or eliminate pain, release muscle tension and provide a strong emotion lift.

I personally have used peppermint oil for headaches, backaches and tummy-aches. I use Lavender for relaxation. A few drops of lavender on your pillow or the back of your neck or the bottoms of your feet can help you sleep. I'll also put one drop of either lemon, orange or peppermint in a glass of water and sip for a delicious drink with powerful healing properties.

WHAT IS REIKI? (RAY-KEY)

As my first REIKI teacher Libby Barnett said "hands on, REIKI'S on."

REIKI is a hands-on healing practice that helps to balance the body and promote healing and relaxation.

REIKI is an exchange of energy - heat from the hands to various locations on the body (either your own or another's) causes a bio-chemical change to take place. Sounds good already - right?

REIKI can start at the top of head and move down the body to the feet or the other way around. The placement of the hands on the eyes, the back of the head, the neck, just above the chest area, the ribs, the belly, the legs, the back, etc... brings a sense of calm to the central nervous system and the result is deep relaxation.

The healing and relaxing effects of REIKI have been well documented. REIKI is being embraced in many hospital settings.

If either of these healing modalities intrigue you, I invite you to contact me to arrange for a session.
